I watch too much TV, I know.
But really, I thought I would have been content with the palette of my dreams but instead now I'm lusting over almost every Kat Von D True Romance Palette. I seriously am considering getting at least two more of them, particularly the newer releases.
These shadows won all of my brownie points; smooth texture, pigmented, low-lasting, and come in lively colors that allow me to get creative. Honestly, I like these shadows a tad better than Urban Decay's. Gasp. Really? Yes, really. I mean, Urban Decay produces some of the best eyeshadows, no question about that, but sometimes I find their shimmery/metallic ones too crumbly. And their taupe/brown colors are always either too shimmery or looking too muddy on my skin. These Kat Von D shadows, on the other hand, all look fantastic when I blend them on my eyelids.

The following swatches are applied on bare skin. I didn't use any eyeshadow primer/base to enhance the colors. I usually do that with my previous eyeshadow swatches, but this time I want you to see for yourself how amazing these shadows are on their own. With primer underneath, they're practically storm proof. Okay, maybe not, but they certainly will stay vibrant a whole lot longer if you pair them with a good eyeshadow primer. I highly recommend using Urban Decay Primer Potion or Etude House Proof 10 Eyeshadow Primer to use with these shadows.
So there you have it. My ultimate favorite eyeshadow palette. I've been using this palette a lot as of late, especially the purple shades. I might come up with a tutorial using it some time soon.
Has anyone tried any of the True Romance palettes by Kat Von D? What do you think about them?

Gorgeous swatches! I love this palette too :) The colors are bold but really nice too :D
ReplyDeleteThis post is A++++ for Futurama reference! My favorite show of al time! And wow at the eyeshadows, they look strong and vibrant without primer. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you like it so much. The colors do look pretty. I like Speed Blue. So very vampy and sexy.

I have this palette but I've barely used it! ;____;
ReplyDeleteThe swatches look beautiful! I think you'd love the Inglot eyeshadows dear! :) I'm not sure if you can get that in Indo but I may buy some Inglot eyeshadows for my giveaway so keep a lookout on that :D
ReplyDeleteKalmo - LOL! A++++ for your comment! And it's one of my all time favorite shows too, for sure!
ReplyDeleteFi, what happened to your shoutmix? Btw, the day you told me about how to remove glittery nail polish, Misschivous came up with a video tutorial that evening. You're right, the method is to place a soaked up cotton balls on fingers and then wrap it with aluminum foil. It helps a lot. Thank you for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you finally came up with True Romance review! I know you've been wanting it since your post about NYX Jazz Night. Glad it works on you. I can never pull off those dark colors. Maybe I should try Kat Von D's other palette :D
Now i'm literally sad! I ordered palette from Kat von D also when sephora was on sale *grin* but they were OOS >.<
ReplyDeleteDreaming of having one..
I have the same palette and I absolutely love it. The colors super smooth and nicely pigmented. I love the blendabilty. I would love to see a tutorial on this palette from you!
ReplyDeleteI have way too many eyeshadows too I just dont look at them in the store anymore...but if you found the need in this palette im sure I will now too...it sounds all so tempting! lol
ReplyDeleteMarcelle - Yeah I got rid of my shoutbox recently. Shoutmix stopped providing free shoutbox service and I don't like the look of Cbox. I didn't think people would notice since it's mostly filled with spam anyway. :/
ReplyDeleteAnd YES. Try the other palettes from the same range! I'm thinking to buy the one with neutral colors called Saint. :D
Fifi, this is too funny. I was actually telling my bf a few days ago that if I would buy an eyeshadow palette (which I know, I don't need ), I would get Kat Von D Beethoven palette. I've been lemming on it for years haha! And the price is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteOMG....I seriously need to try these Kat Von D eyeshadows now. You know a lot about eyeshadows (and so do I!) and I totally know what you mean about some of the shimmery/glittery UD eyeshadows having poor quality and crumbling :( You know which other big name brand that I don't like? Nars. I find Nars eyeshadows to be so muddy and blah whenever I've swatched them in Sephora. In any case...I'm gonna check out the Kat V D shadows the next time I'm in Sephora! Great review Fifi :)
